One of my favourite days of the year is Australia Day! A chance to invite friends over, bask in the sunshine, hang out with my closest buddies with a icy cold
glass bottle of Verdelho, eat a snag and stuff a lamington in my gob.
A day to celebrate all things we love about living in the great land Down Under.
It’s an Australia Day tradition to have the radio blaring on Australia Day and listen to Triple J’s Hottest 100 songs. The nation has 3-4 weeks to comply a list of their 10 favourite songs played in 2014 on Triple J and cast their vote. Last year I guessed 7/10 songs correct and this year I reckon I’m on the money.
1. Peking Duk – High
2. Chet Faker – Talk is Cheap
3. Mark Ronson – Uptown Funk
4. Hilltop Hoods – Cosby Sweater
5. Future Islands – Seasons
6. Milky Chance – Stolen Chance
7. Sia – Chandelier
8. Highasakite – Since Last Wednesday
9. Duke Dumont – I Got U
10. Phantogram – Fall in Love
OK. OK. OK. So my last 3 songs are thrown in because I absolutely ADORE them and would LOVE to see them make the top 10 but chances are, they’ll reach the top 20.
…….. and my NUMBER #1 song of 2014?
Peking Duk – High
Yep. I voted for Peking Duk! And I’m jumping outta my skin to hear it be announced as #1 song today. These Aussie boys (and singer Nicole Millar) deserve it!
Who did you vote for?
To all my Aussie readers, HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY. I hope the sun is shining wherever you are today.
