Wake Up and Be Kind Today

People often forget that kindness is free

Ever heard of the Wake Up Project? It’s a kindness revolution started by Australian Jono Fisher in 2009. You’re probably wondering what a Kindness Revolution is, right? Jono had a simple idea to create a community that celebrated mindful living; a movement that offers kindness and wisdom to our modern-day way of life.

I heard about the movement from my mum and in 2010 I ordered my Kindness Cards from the Wake Up Project site – the cards are free – and I spent the month of September spreading some kindness around. We’ve all heard that saying ‘Kindness. Sprinkle that shit everywhere’ and that’s exactly what I wanted to do.

// I paid for someone’s parking meter and left a kindness card on the windscreen

// I purchased an extra coffee one morning and left the kindness card with the barista to hand to the next customer

// I left an anonymous chocolate bar on my colleagues office desk with a kindness card

// I left a kind note for a waitress who served me in a cafe.

Why? Because a tiny act of kindness has the power to shape and shift someones day. By doing these acts anonymously, I’m hopefully inspiring the receiver to also be kind to others. The receiver of the kindness card is encouraged to pass the card along and do something kind.

Are you seeing the domino effect yet? If we all did a small act of kindness each day, the world would be an EVEN BETTER place to live in. Can you imagine the smiles radiating from people you passed in the street? MORE of that please! Not to mention the loveliness you’re providing a stranger.

I just ordered my 2nd batch last week and my cards arrived today.
